Most Memorable Day at Rotary Club of Buenos Aires.

IN A SINGLE MEETING FIVE AMBASSADORS WERE DECLARED “HONORARY MEMBERS” OF THE CLUB AND THE VICEPRESIDENT OF ARGENTINA SPOKE ON THE IMPORTANCE OF ROTARIAN ACTION.

December 20th 2017 will long be remembered in Rotary Club of Buenos Aires history. In a single meeting great events took place.

In the first place, the Vicepresident of Argentina, Gabriela Michetti, attended the traditional rotarian meeting on Wednesdays. There she gave a speech on the present situation of the country and emphasized the important role that civil organizations develop on helping people of their communities with different kind of necessities. Beeing herself a member of Interact when she was young, she praised rotarian action which she considered it of grate value.  She expressed that Rotary can have a growing role in helping the Argentinian government to achieve some objectives linked to end poverty and assist the ones in fragile situation.

In the second place, five Ambassadors with accreditation in Argentina where distinguished as “Honorary Members” of the club at the same ceremony.  Noel Campbell from Australia, Pierre Henri Guignard from France, Hanspeter Mock from Switzerland, José Viera Gallo from Chile and Héctor Lescano from Uruguay, received from President Luis Ovsejevich (2017-2018), a special diploma to attest these relevant designations.  The first one to receive this membership was Mark Kent from United Kingdom the previous week.  Víctor Koronelli from Russia, Javier Sandomingo Nuñez from Spain and Sergio Danese from Brasil will be incorporated soon.

In the third place, four new people entered the Rotary family in Buenos Aires. So, if we sum the Ambassadors mentioned, nine new members were named in only one day.  This was not an exceptional situation, as the board of the club has set a record of having incorporated 49 members in just 6 months.  In all, RCBA counts 250 Rotary members in its growing structure.
All these remarkable events made a “day to remember” in the history of the club.  The meeting had a great press coverage and all the members felt immense satisfaction on the eminent incorporations and the prestigious presence of the Vicepresident.

Rotary Club of Buenos Aires is involved in several changes lead by the President and the present board. Among them, a dramatic increase of the membership, a focus on fundraising through the sponsorships of private companies to expand the solidarity actions, and the development of an attractive conference cycle to gain the attention of the community and the press to spread the name of Rotary and its actions.

Rotary Club of Buenos Aires was founded on the 8th of november 1919.  In 2019 will celebrate its 100 years of life.
